Concord has a dynamic and rich history as it originally began as the city of Todos Santos. Today, Todos Santos is a city block plaza with shops and restaurants that form the heart of the city. The city itself has some redeveloped zones and some older areas that date back to before World War II. While the area began as agricultural region, it has since transformed into a beacon for commercial and residential growth. It serves as a gateway to the Bay Area for many distant townships.
The area schools are part of the Mount Diablo Unified School District. Many residents go to them or one of the local charter or private schools. One of the most famous of these private entities is De La Salle, which was the subject of a Hollywood movie that chronicled the teams successes over a decade.
Within Concord, the Iron Horse Regional Trail ends. This is a former railroad section that has become a pedestrian corridor and runs from Dublin to Concord with stops in San Ramon, Danville, Alamo, and Walnut Creek. Many utilize it to walk, run or bicycle for their daily workout.
The town has numerous events throughout the year through its library, art gallery, theater, and local organizations. Two of the most popular are the Concord Jazz Festival and the Memorial Day Kid’s Festival. These are both premier regional events that draw thousands.
