Danville has a rich history. It originally started out as farmers but grew overtime to have many merchants, schools, and other community focal points. During the 20th century, Danville transformed into a true American melting pot as Chinese, Portuguese, German, and Japanese immigrants settled in Danville. The region then grew to become a tremendous suburb and commercial hub of the Bay area.
The area has a phenomenal school district and it began in 1910 when the beginnings of San Ramon Unified School District took shape. The first high school was built with San Ramon Valley High School. Today, the district has another two high schools with Monte Vista High School and Del Amigo. In addition, the District has numerous top tiered elementary and middle schools. Over 98% of high school graduates go on to college or vocational education.
Within Danville, the Iron Horse Regional Trail runs through. Initially, it was a railroad but then converted to a corridor for bikes and pedestrians. It runs from Dublin to Concord while running through Danville.
The town has numerous events throughout the year through its library, art gallery, theater, and local organizations. One of these events is the Blackhawk Food, Wine, and Film Festival that is run by the Danville/Sycamore Rotary each spring. Funds from the event benefit local and international organizations. It brings restaurants from Danville, Alamo, and San Ramon, along with Livermore wineries. The city also hosts a farmer’s market each Saturday next to the San Ramon Valley Museum.
